Extract audio from video
Extract an AAC audio track from an MP4 or MOV video as M4A without re-encoding. Choose the track, listen to the result and download it on your device.
Your file stays on this device. The original remains unchanged.
How to use this tool
- Choose a non-fragmented MP4 or MOV video up to 2 GB. The tool reads track metadata before copying any audio.
- If more than one audio track exists, select the required codec and language. AAC tracks are copied into an audio-only M4A container.
- Listen to the exported file and save it. For a non-AAC source, the tool shows a clear message and links to the ringtone editor for conversion of an excerpt.
Questions and answers
Is M4A the same as MP3?
No. Here M4A contains the existing AAC audio. Creating an MP3 requires decoding and re-encoding. Choose the ringtone editor when you need a converted excerpt of up to 30 seconds.
Does extraction change the sound quality?
The compressed AAC samples are preserved byte for byte. Only the container and its timing tables are rebuilt. No bitrate, volume or sample-rate conversion is applied.
What if the video has no sound?
A video without an audio track cannot produce an M4A file. The tool reports this instead of generating an empty download. Codec playback still depends on your browser.
