Remove PDF metadata — free and local

Clean document properties or create a new PDF from visible page images. Compare the result without uploading your document.

Choose how to clean your PDF

Removes document Info fields, Metadata/XMP references and the document ID. Text and the existing PDF structure are retained. Comments, form values, attachments, embedded-image metadata and other custom data may remain. This mode does not anonymize the document.

Editing invalidates existing certificate-based signatures in either mode. Keep the original and check the downloaded copy. Processing stays local.

Choose the right level of cleaning

Basic mode removes document Info fields, Metadata/XMP references and the document ID, then saves a new file without unreferenced objects. It retains the existing PDF structure and selectable text. Comments, form values, attachments, metadata in embedded images and custom application data may remain. This is document-metadata cleaning, not complete anonymization.

Raster mode creates a new document from rendered page images. Source attachments, scripts, original metadata and hidden text layers are not copied. It loses selectable text, accessibility tags, interactive forms, links and digital signatures. Visible names, addresses and other personal content remain visible in both modes. Editing also invalidates existing certificate-based signatures in basic mode.

Check the copy before sharing

Compare every page and inspect the downloaded copy with a local PDF viewer or metadata inspector. Search and text selection should still work in basic mode; raster mode contains page images. Files may grow. Keep the original. Password-protected PDFs are not processed here. Input limit: 30 MB; basic mode up to 200 pages, raster mode up to 50 pages with additional pixel and output-size limits shown in the tool.
