Profile picture pixel dimensions — square photo examples

Prepare a square copy with a clear center. The right pixel size depends on the destination, not on a universal profile-photo rule.

Requirements and examples

1024 × 1024 and 500 × 500 are freely chosen working presets. They are not universal platform requirements. Check the destination’s current instructions and its final preview, particularly if it displays the square photo in a circular frame.

Keep the important content away from the edges

Start with fit if the whole photo matters. Use centered crop for a filled square and inspect the face or logo. If the center is wrong, manually crop the original with the crop tool before resizing. Do not use portrait examples intended for a job application as a universal avatar shape.

Pixels determine dimensions; bytes measure file size. You can meet a pixel requirement and still exceed a byte limit. Set your own limit below, check the result and use the compression tool if needed. These examples are ShrinkBeam guidance checked on the date below.

Prepare your image locally

Choose a preset or your own dimensions. The output is JPG; white fills transparent areas and any margins. No file is uploaded.

The image is never stretched. Without enlargement, a small source may leave margins even with centered crop. For manual positioning, use the crop tool first.

This checks the finished file; it does not automatically compress to the limit. 1 KB = 1000 bytes.
