Trim video
Trim an MP4 or MOV video without re-encoding. Set start and end with sliders or seconds, preview the excerpt and download a new copy locally.
Your file stays on this device. The original remains unchanged.
How to use this tool
- Select an MP4 or MOV recording up to 2 GB. Metadata is read in bounded pieces; the original file is never replaced. WebM and fragmented MP4 are not supported in this tool.
- Choose the visible start and end. The normal video player previews the source range if your browser supports its codec. Seconds can be entered to two decimal places.
- Export and check the new file in its destination player. Encoded samples are copied from the preceding keyframe, while an edit list hides the lead-in and sets the visible ending.
Questions and answers
Is the cut frame-exact?
The requested display range is stored in an edit list. Compressed decoding starts at the preceding keyframe, so exact displayed boundaries depend on the frame rate and player support. Some editors ignore edit lists and reveal the lead-in.
Does trimming reduce quality?
No video or audio is re-encoded. The selected compressed samples retain their original bytes and codecs. Additional subtitle, chapter and metadata tracks are omitted from the edited copy.
Why is a large video not fully loaded?
The parser loads file headers and sample tables, not the full media payload. The output references selected source byte ranges. A 2 GB file limit and metadata limits protect the tab; available memory and the browser still affect the result.
