Pixel, cm and DPI calculator
Convert image pixels to print dimensions in centimetres, or calculate pixels from centimetres and a chosen DPI value. No image is uploaded or altered.
Your input and results stay in this browser.
Uses 2.54 cm per inch. Pixel results are rounded to the nearest whole pixel. This calculation does not change image pixels or export metadata.
Calculate the relationship between pixels and print size
One inch is exactly 2.54 centimetres. Divide the number of pixels by the chosen resolution and multiply by 2.54 to obtain centimetres. For example, 300 pixels at 300 DPI correspond to 2.54 cm. Select the opposite direction to calculate the pixels required for a 10 × 15 cm print. At 300 DPI the rounded result is 1181 × 1772 pixels.
Resolution labels do not create image detail
DPI is used here as the familiar print-resolution label; image sampling is often called PPI. Choosing a higher value changes the calculated physical size or required pixel count, not the quality of an existing picture. The tool does not read or write resolution metadata. Check the printer’s requirements, cropping, bleed and actual image quality separately. Pixel outputs are rounded; centimetres are displayed to four decimal places.
Workflow and result checks
- Select the conversion direction.
- Enter width, height and the required DPI value.
- Calculate and check the printer specifications before exporting.
Questions about this tool
Does changing DPI improve a photograph?
No. A different number alone adds no image detail and does not alter the original file.
Are the pixel results exact?
The formula uses exactly 2.54 cm per inch; final pixel dimensions are rounded to whole pixels.
